Rocket is a Golden Retriever who is in training through the Helping Paws organization in hopes of becoming a future service dog for someone with a physical disability. Born on March 11, 2009, he came to live in our home in May of 2009, and this blog has been created to help track his progress.
Helping Paws places puppies from their breeding program into foster homes at approximately two months of age, and for approximately the next two and one-half years, the dogs receive training to prepare them for their future careers.
For more information on Helping Paws, check out the Helping Paws web site. Or if you have questions, feel free to contact me – I’d be happy to answer any questions you have about what it is like to be a foster home for a dog in training.
